Ice dams form and water has no where to go. Damaging your home. Nylons, sometimes free ones from the store shoe area you used are long enough. Filled with ice salt. Tied off. A string attached (To move forward when needed, to help move into place, easier to collect). Throw up onto roof, so it lines down (Or V’s down), so water has path. Do every so often. Be sure to have it over hang so the water has a path over the edge. Hope this helps.
If you throw JUST ice melt onto roof, the pellets melt downward, making holes. Where water just goes straight down. No good!
