Lard Biscuits

lardbiscuits
Lard is actually lower in sat. fat than butters. High in D.

2 cups Flour, plus more for dusting the work surface
1/4tsp Baking Soda
1T Baking Powder, aluminum free
1 1/4tsp Salt
1tsp Dollar Store Butter Popcorn Seasoning (Or, Butter Powder/Season)
1tsp Garlic Powder
1/2tsp Dried Rosemary, crushed some
2T Cold Butter (We used spread)
2T Cold Lard (We used Pork Lard)

1c Cold Buttermilk*
* (Instead of Buttermilk, I mixed 1c Milk+1T White Vinegar. Allow to sit 5min.)

Melted butter, after baking brushing.

Directions:
MIX DRY INGREDIENTS.
CUT IN LARD/Butter into flour, until cornmeal texture.
Pour in Buttermilk (Or, Vinegar/Milk Mix) stir by folding it in. Not too, too much mixing. But, enough.
Flatten out dough out to about 1/2in. DO NOT ROLL! Fold it in half, press out to 1/2in. Repeat this step a total of 5 times.
Press out to 1/2in. I use glass cup to cut round shapes. Place onto ungreased pan.
I place biscuits in fridge until oven preheats to 450.
12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.

Alfredo Chicken N Broccoli Cups

Alfredo Chicken N Broccoli BiscuitsUsually, I don’t post “The Typicals” type recipes. Try to stick with things that are close to different or new-er-ish, etc. But, figure I throw something up here. It’s easy and quick. We’ve been making these a loooooonnng time now. Even versions using Croissants. Making Alfredo Chicken N Brocc. stuffed Croissants.

Fridge Biscuits
Chicken, boiled
Jar Alfredo
Frozen Broccoli, thawed
Small Garlic Clove, minced (Powder works)
Pepper
Few Tablespoons of Grated Parmesan Cheese (Store shelf kind)

Boil chicken. In pan, heat sauce, garlic, pepper, parm. cheese. Shred chicken. Mix chicken and broccoli with sauce to consistency desired. Make cups using fridge biscuits (I use large sized).  Add chicken mix to cups. Bake according to biscuit instructions (Mine goes a few minutes longer).

Quicky: Use Garlic Powder in place of clove. Shred chicken, add everything together (No need to heat). Fill biscuits. Bake.

DO NOTS! Because you can’t eat just one! (Easy Mini Donuts Holes)

minidonuts

1 can Fridge Biscuits
About 1/2c White Sugar
About 1/8 to 1/4 tsp Cinnamon (Or Pumpkin Spice)
Marshmallows

Heat Oil in Deep Fryer. Mix together sugar and cinnamon. Roll/fold around chunk of Marshmallow (Or use small ones). So Marsh is in center. Pinch completely closed. I can usually get 2 DO NOTS (Donuts) per reg. size biscuit. Fry until browned all around. Immediately roll in sugar/cinnamon mixture. Set on paper towel to cool.

Note: To save calories, you can bake. Just place dough around marsh. Roll in sugar mixture. Bake.
